Prelude

In a melancholy mood I sat down at the piano to play Prelude no. 4 or Prelude in E as it is sometimes called by Chopin. I began to play, but couldn't quite remember past the first part, so I got out the sheet music, and decided to clean the dusty keys. Which really needed cleaning as you can see in the photo. But what I thought was worth mentioning here on my blog is that in cleaning the keys one by one starting from the high notes, I had a revelation at what may have inspired this very piece of music - possibly the cleaning of this mighty instrument in the same fashion by the composer himself, as some of the melody can be played just by dancing down the keys one by one, black after white after black. This gave me an even bigger feeling of connection to the song, and also brightened my mood a bit.
