Thanks for the boxes!
What a great weekend of festivities; great friends, giving, receiving, drinking, great weather, tasty food and most importantly, empty boxes to play in!

A day at the beach
After a day of eating, drinking and giving thanks, we all packed up for a full day at the beach! Felix and Cassidy played in the water, filled a hole with water, sailed their boats and filled the buckets over and over. Later, all the kids (and a few adults) took a nap on the beach. Fully rested, Felix started the second shift of bucket filling with a steady focus and pace, he probably would have stayed, scooped and dumped for hours! Black Friday ended with leftovers and Ooma and Oompa's house.

Work life
While grabbing coffee today with some coworkers, we were given a friendly honk from a strange car and all agreed we didn't know the owner. But on second glance I recognized the driver as a coworker from my most recent job. She informed me that she was going to an appointment, and looking for the Kaiser medical building; the building I work in has no practicing doctors, but a few blocks away is a small clinic; running late, she was off. This seemingly unremarkable coincidence remained as such, until I recalled it to Dani over dinner: my old co-worker (from Empire) is on a health plan that I had set up when I was at Craford (back in April) and going to see a doctor/ using the insurance that my current company, Kaiser, employs/ administers. This chance encounter summarized my last six work months: a challenging time with lots of reflecting, hand wringing, and constant change that has made the year fly by.

Felix saying, "mountain"
After the weekend of going up to, and then today viewing, Mt. Hood in the distance from the OHSU Tram tower, Felix has mastered the word, "mountain." Based on his furniture climbing skills he will be scaling the Cascades in no time!
Photo details, for non-Portlanders: the diagonal lines are the tram cables, the one on the right is pointing down to the tram car (the little spoon shaped object). The tram connects the main, older part of Oregon Health and Science's University (OHSU), to the newer part by the Willamette river. Why, you might ask, wouldn't they just expand the main area? Well it is perched on the side of a very crowded hill, at the end of two lane, winding road with very limited parking (believe me, we lived up there for a short time). It's just easier and a whole lot cooler to turn it into an amusement ride.

Mountain Time
Decided to head up to Mt Hood for a day trip involving snow play! The mountain was obscured by a thick fog, but we got to hike in the warm sun, and even found a patch of snow to crunch on. Felix loved being in the mountain air and seeing the heavy equipment that was trucking around the lodge - snow cat, excavator, and dump truck - all straight out of his favorite book. It was an amazing day, and while hiking I noted that Alex and I were each carrying a precious little person, which made me so happy.
